State Assessments

California requires all public school students to participate in state assessment programs. These assessments help measure student progress and school effectiveness.

CAASPP — California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress

The CAASPP system includes the Smarter Balanced assessments in English language arts/literacy and math for students in grades 3–8 and 11.

The ELPAC is the required state test for English language proficiency for students whose primary language is not English.

Parent Rights Regarding Assessments
